IPTV Android

IPTV on Android: Strong IPTV on Android TV, Google TV, phones and boxes

Android is the most flexible home for IPTV: the widest choice of player apps, installs straight from Google Play, and settings you can actually tweak. Here’s how to set it up and keep playback smooth.

Which Android?

Three kinds of Android device, three slightly different setups

Google TV & Android TV sets

Sony, plus Google TV models from TCL and Hisense. Install the player from Google Play on the TV itself — no stick required.

Streaming boxes

Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, NVIDIA Shield and certified Android TV boxes. Fast, and several have an Ethernet port.

Phones & tablets

Any recent Android phone or tablet. Great for the kitchen or bedroom, and you can cast to a TV when you want the big screen.

Install

Install from Google Play in five steps

  1. Open Google Play

On the TV, box, phone or tablet you’ll watch on.

  2. Search for the player

Use the player name we recommended for your device and login type.

  3. Install and open it

Allow it to run; it doesn’t need access to your contacts or photos.

  4. Add your login

Choose username/password/server or playlist link, matching what we sent.

  5. Let it load

Channels and the guide take a minute the first time. Add favorites for quick access.

Play Store first

Install from Google Play whenever your player is available there — updates are automatic and Play Protect scans apps. Only install from elsewhere if we send you a trusted link.

Player settings

Settings that fix most stutters

Setting Start with If there’s a problem
Decoder Hardware Switch to software if video stutters or audio drifts
Buffer size Medium Go larger on unsteady Wi-Fi
Stream format App default Try the alternative format if one channel won’t play
Guide time shift 0 Adjust by whole hours if listings are offset

Certified or bargain box?

Feature Google-certified Uncertified bargain box
Security updates Yes Rarely
Google Play Store Built in Often missing or unofficial
Wi-Fi quality Generally solid Hit and miss

Casting from a phone

Many players can cast to a Google TV or Chromecast-enabled TV. It’s handy for a quick show; for a whole evening, the app on the TV device itself is smoother and keeps your phone free.

Didn’t find your answer?

Ask us directly — you’ll get a straight answer before you spend anything.

Which Android devices work with Strong IPTV?

Android TV and Google TV sets, the Google TV Streamer, NVIDIA Shield, certified Android TV boxes, and Android phones and tablets on a recent version of Android.

Should I install apps from Google Play or elsewhere?

Use Google Play whenever your player is available there — updates are automatic and it’s the safest option. Only install from elsewhere if we send you a trusted link.

Which settings help playback?

If video stutters, switch the player’s decoder between hardware and software, set the buffer to medium, and keep the app updated.

Is a cheap uncertified Android box OK?

Uncertified boxes often ship with outdated software and weak Wi-Fi. A Google-certified device is usually more reliable and keeps receiving security updates.

Can I cast from my phone?

Many players support Chromecast, so you can cast from your phone to a Google TV or Chromecast-enabled TV. For long viewing, a native app on the TV is smoother.
